Give a warm welcome to the newest member of the furhoof family: Nadine Carina

The Swiss singer/songwriter, currently living in Liverpool (UK), is making an art of experimenting in the way she records music. Her latest EP finds inspiration from an old Tascam Portastudio. Warm and noisy sounding, her latest EP includes songs ranging from gospel-like a cappella harmonies to melancholic folk which recall some of the vibe of her 2011 debut Magic Box, but dwells even deeper through her introspective thoughts. The self titled EP will be released through Furious Hooves this April 2013.

December 21st 2012. It’s almost here. Whatever you believe, we have something to get you in the mood. Blood Cousin surprised us tonight with the first single from an EP, soon to be released in the winter of 2013. “And Here We Are, 9 Meals Away From Anarchy” builds up a doomsday scenario for all of us here at Furious Hooves… and frankly we’re excited to see what comes next.

Day 2 (Await) by Blood Cousin
  • with 220 plays since 29 October

  • Perfect|Midnight|World has some kind words about our Halloween Split from last year.

“Day 2 (Await)” by Blood Cousin // Last Night I Walked With a Zombie (Split) (2011)

For the past couple of years, Furious Hooves has been releasing splits for Halloween. Last year saw the first release, a split between Mumbledust and Blood Cousin, which saw both bands tackle dark folk tracks that celebrate the eerie music of the season. “Day 2 (Await)” is one of those tracks - the one from Blood Cousin - and it’s a pitch black beauty that sounds like the somber ballad of a low fog rolling in over graveyard. It’s melancholic guitar barely enough to rise the lovely, hushed vocals out of a whisper. Highest recommendation.

“Places” by mumbledust from their EP Vacations [Furious Hooves, 2012]

bandcamp hunter has some kind words on vacations.

The great blog, Bandcamp Hunter was kind enough to feature our latest release, Vacations EP by mumbledust, on their site. They also had some nice things to say about mumbledust and Furious Hooves via their facebook page.

I like a record label that you can’t pin down - Furious Hooves hasn’t been around for long but have released a steady stream of diverse sounds, all of it good. The lo-fi folk of mumbledust is a lovely warped listen - “recorded on a poor microphone with the best of intentions”. Good intentions and good songs, a fine combination.

    mumbledust - Vacations EP

Today marks the day for mumbledust’s first “EP” if you will. It’s actually a collection of bedroom recordings they did in the summer of 2011 between various old haunted Savannah homes. It was recorded on a poor microphone with the best of intentions. The download includes bonus material! Yay.

Artifacts (live at the Sentient Bean) by Dare Dukes and the Blackstock Collection
  • with 60 plays since 23 January

  • Dare Dukes just released his full length entitled Thugs and China Dolls on Athens label Mazarine Records and is now going on tour for its support. He played not just one, but two CD release shows in Savannah, Georgia this past weekend. Dare played “Artifacts,” the b-side to his Ghosts of Christmas Single released on Furious Hooves and his own Starland Records, but decided to mix it up for this live version. Rachael Perisho of mumbledust was a special guest on vocals one night and here you can listen to a partial iPhone recording of Thursday’s show at the Bean. “Dare was nice enough to let me sing on this one,” says Rachael.
